Public Facilitation

East End Small Area Plan
EHI was the lead planning firm responsible for the development of a small area plan for Lexington’s East End Neighborhood in coordination with Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.

The comprehensive small area plan included extensive public involvement in the form of a kick-off party and a community-visioning workshop as opposed to conventional meetings. These processes employed active listening and documented the process using video recording as to precisely document the residents’ desires for their neighborhood. These processes allowed the project team to reach far more neighborhood residents and stakeholders than otherwise possible.

Further information regarding the East End Small Area Plan planning process is listed under the Planning section of Past Projects.

Green Acres
EHI led the efforts in developing the Green Acres Neighborhood Study. For this project EHI developed a public participation plan and worked with the public to develop a storm water improvement plan. This process included a great deal of outreach to the neighborhood which included questionnaires, property owner interviews, and follow up meetings with residents. This data was stored, tabulated, analyzed, and organized for use in the development of the improvement plan.

Charles Young Center Feasibility Study
EHI Consultants worked to develop a feasibility study that consisted of recommendations for the future use of the Charles Young Community Center. Given the history of the Charles Young Center within the East End Neighborhood of Lexington, residents and stakeholders possessed a vested interest in the future of this building. EHI Consultants conducted public meetings with neighborhood residents and stakeholders to develop suggested uses of the Charles Young Community Center.

Lexington Infill & Redevelopment Recommendations
EHI Consultants served as a project facilitator for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. The goal of this project was to develop a set of infill and development standards within the Urban Services Boundary. EHI facilitated and assisted in this intense land use planning process by providing education about infill and redevelopment, managing the participants’ time, efforts, and resources, producing recommended actions for consideration by the governing bodies involved, and advocating for those recommendations resulting in their successful implementation.
